When I took office in December 2006, I wanted to effectively use my
highly-motivated leadership style, never-ending enthusiasm,
and off-the-charts creative thinking to propel the Anne Arundel
County Sheriff’s Office to a new level. I am happy to report
that I have been able to do just that! I sincerely
believe in the inscription on my coffee cup, which reads “When a man
is motivated by excellence, success follows.”
Safety for the law-abiding citizens of this county has been my
primary focus since day one. Though I hold an elected office,
I am not a politician. I am an experienced law enforcement
executive with one agenda - YOU. When it comes
to serving arrest warrants, criminal summonses, civil documents, or
guarding the Circuit Courthouse, one’s political affiliation does
not matter. We will arrest, serve, or evict anyone. Period.
So instead of asking me if I am a “D” an “R” or an “I”, the only
thing you need to remember is that I’m a cop. I believe in my
slogan which says, “Your safety should have no price or party.”

Like
many of you, I have lived in this county my entire life and
therefore also have a personal interest in keeping us safe. To
this end, my staff and I have collaborated, created, and implemented
many successful warrant stings and arrest sweeps to locate and
apprehend wanted criminals in Anne Arundel County, and we are not
done yet!
In fact, we are proud to announce that
as of March 2011 we have reduced the
back-log of warrants by 39% from 13,584 to
8,302.
This is the largest documented reduction in warrants in over 34
years and perhaps in the history of the Sheriff's Office.
My
team at the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office consists of
dedicated women and men, sworn and civilian, who work hard each day
to accomplish our mission of service to the community.
Since my election in 2006, I have re-energized employees, giving
them direct ownership along with accountability in their work.
We have changed the look of the agency, raised the bar in training
at all ranks, equipped our deputies with modern tactical equipment,
and also built a new Communications Center using the latest state of
the art computer-aided dispatch system.
This
career of law enforcement has always been a passion of mine, and
after all these years, I still love coming to work every day.
Vote to re-elect me, Sheriff Ron Bateman, in 2010, and I will
continue to serve you with pride, unlimited energy, continuous
enthusiasm, and an endless commitment to ensuring your safety.
